August 3, 2009

Well our little "pooter" is now 4 months old (well, has been since July 25th). He is quite the handful. He is such a happy baby. He has a giggle that will just tickle your tummy and a smile that will light up your life. He is such a joy, really.

Last week we had our second round of shots together alone and he did wonderful. He actually fell asleep on the table in the exam room before the nurse came in. When she opened the door the clipboard on the other side startled him and he started crying. Poor baby was in tears the whole time she gave him his shots. He got one by mouth and 2 needle sticks. He cried for a short minute and then he fell asleep and slept the majority of the day.

The teething has calmed and other than wanting to be permanently attached to my hipbone he is back to his silly self. We are back to sleeping through the night, once we finally fall out sadly. The new game is to fall asleep and wake up around midnight wanting to be rocked back to sleep. It's sweet now, but in a few weeks when I have to return to work while still playing the single parent role, it could get very exhausting.

He is growing like a weed. He is now 13 pounds 13 ounces and 26 inches long and right on track with his development. The only thing he is not doing that he should be doing by the time he is at least 5 months old is rolling over. He can do it, it just takes a little assistance. Part of this is because he HATES being on his tummy. He has from day one. So we now have 5 minute tummy time several times a day to work on rolling over, pushing up, and forward scooting. He does all of these wonderful things on his back, just will not have any part of being on his tummy!

Our wonderful first summer vacation is coming to a quick end and I am now preparing to return to work. I will miss him terribly but will enjoy some adult interaction. I really wish I could stay home but my shopping habits and my bank account do not agree with me staying home. I have a busy month ahead and most of it includes spending mommy and me time with my little man :)
