Last week was July 4th, and this year we enjoyed the fireworks from a distance...again. You loved them as long as they were far away and not loud. Last year we drove to the ice cream shop near our house to enjoy the fireworks being shot at the park. Far enough away that they weren't too loud. This year we watched them from Geeg's and Papa's backyard. I wish I would have gotten a picture of the not-so-safe contraptions we used to get a better view across the field. You started out on Geeg's shoulders, before moving on to papa's shoulders. Papa's height made seeing the fireworks across the field a bit of a challenge as well. So, your crazy Geeg had the bright idea of moving a lawn chair to the back fence and Papa could stand on it,with you on his shoulders. Yes, I was a nervous wreck. Then your silly Jay came around the yard with a 15 foot ladder and decided to sit at the very top with you standing in between his legs and Geeg standing in front of you for added protection. Needless to say you were all grins and giggles and enjoyed your view of the fireworks from afar, regardless of the not-so-safe way of seeing them.
Since the end of June we have been battling with your breathing. You O2 levels have been all over the place, falling as low as 87. Oxygen, Xopenx, and Albuterol have been your best friends the last 3 weeks. Along with 4 different steroids. You have coughed yourself silly for the entire 3 weeks and I think we are finally getting over it. I just wish we could fix your gimpy little lung so that you could breath like a normal kid, but then again, I think it makes you that much more special. Like Nemo, my squishy baby!
We have had many changes in our family the last 2 weeks and I am so thankful that you are mine. Even through the storms, I can look at your sweet face and you calm my soul. I thank God every day for you little man, you have no idea how special you are.
