October 10, 2012

I think you are finally getting healthy again, sweet boy.

Last month we had several follow up appointments to check your progress and you are doing so much better.

On September 14th we took you back to see your pediatrician for an asthma management follow up and to have your Vitamin D levels rechecked. I hate that you had to go through all this, but I know you needed it. You're asthma has been managed quite well now that your allergies are also in check. You haven't hand any issues breathing since our last stint in the hospital which has been such a blessing, I was really getting scared. They had to draw blood for your vitamin D level recheck and you were less than thrilled at them sticking you.  We got the results back and your levels are still not where they need to be so we are still supplementing with extra, extra vitamin D until your next recheck in 2 months. Hopefully then your levels will be up and you won't have to go to the endocrinologist. I am sure you are sick of all these doctors, I am too.

Then, on September 21st we took you back to the ENT to get your allergies and ears, nose, and throat rechecked. Your allergies are being managed the best we can right now. Until you are 5 there isn't much more that we can do other to avoid the things you are most allergic to as much as possible. It is quite the challenge when you are allergic to everything, or so it seems. Your nose and throat are also doing great, but your ears are a mess. You are one ear wax producing kiddo! Your right ear had a ton of really think, orange wax built up around the tube and was causing the tube to not function correctly. So, Dr. Illoabochie had to do an extraction and it was quite disgusting and you did not like any part of you. Once again, I was left holding you down with a team of nurses so the doctor could clean out your ears. Trust me, I didn't like any more than you did, I promise. You have been telling everyone that you had peanut butter & lady bugs in your ears! Gross!

Then, last week you came down with a lovely little stomach bug that stuck with us for 4 days! You are over that now thank goodness!

We go back for more testing on October 26th, hopefully we get even better results the next time around!

Keep growing and stay healthy, little man!
