Our poor baby! What a week we have had trying to figure out our poor little man's tummy issues. Since switching to formula we have had a few little issues with our tummy. We started out with Enfamil Lipil with Iron (and mylicon drops with every bottle) and that worked great for about a month, then we started spitting up (large amounts) and being constipated on a regular basis. I believe it was the iron in the formula that was making him so constipated all the time. Friday before last we (the doctor and I) switched him over to Enfamil Gentlease. This was suppose to take care of the constipation and excess gas (which it did) however, it did nothing for the spitting up. Only making that much worse. So then on Wednesday we had to switch formulas again. Poor baby's tummy was a wreck!
He is currently on Enfamil AR (added Rice) which is for baby's who spit up in large amounts and have acid reflux. Jacob had issues with both! This formula has help tremendously with the spitting up, he still has to have mylicon drops with all feedings for the gas. You have to really "beat" burps out of him now. This formula is super thick because of the rice starch and stays down so much better, so getting burps out is quite the chore now. He has only spit up a handful of times now and it has mainly been when he doesn't get a good burp out or when he is straining to do something (like keep his head up while sitting in his bumbo seat). The only bad thing is, he is constipated again. I hope this is just due to being on 3 different formulas within a weeks time. I will call the doctor tomorrow to be sure that is whats going on. Hopefully this will not be another formula change, his poor tummy can't handle much more. If this formula doesn't work they will start doing some testing on his tummy to find out what is going on, Lord please let this formula work!
Today we went swimming for the first time and we definitely have a water baby on our hands. He has always LOVED his bath and I had a feeling he would love the pool. We didn't go until later on this evening so it would be shaded and not so hot. He just kicked and played and giggled. Had the time of his life in that big ole bath tub.
