Thursday was D day. It was awful, the worst day of mommy-hood so far. I returned to work and it was HELL....

Wednesday evening I met with Ms Shelly, Jacob's sitter to explain his "schedule" and take his pack-n-play and Baby Einstein DVDs, books, etc.

Thursday: I got up when Jacob woke up for his first bottle at 5:30 AM. He went back to sleep around 6 with a full tummy and a fresh clean hiney :) I then got dressed and tried my hardest to act like the worst was not about to come. Then it hit me. As I was getting my baby out of his crib to buckle him in his car seat, he opened his eyes and smiled. That just melted my heart and I almost decided to skip work yet another day. He went back to sleep when we got in the car but we were only going 4 houses down. Ms Shelly his babysitter for the time being was waiting joyfully at her front door. I took him in got him out of his car seat, explained everything in his bag, and put his food in the fridge, then gave my baby a few minutes of mommy time and extra kisses and I was out the door! Ms Shelly has been a family friend and neighbor for several years, she is an ex-police officer and her husband is a fireman. I knew my baby was in great hands but that did not help the fact that I had to leave him ALL day. I went on to work for the first day in 8 weeks and I am so glad my first hour and half was conference and I sat in my classroom looking at my baby's picture crying like I was about to die. It made it worse that Travis was not here to console me even though he tried the best he could through text messages, voice mails, and emails. About half way through my horrible first day back I received a delivery...a dozen brightly colored Gerber daisy's from my parents and that really helped :)

If dropping my baby off for the first time wasn't bad enough, the kids were terrible. My students had been left to act like monkeys for 8 weeks. You could definitely tell I was not around for 8 weeks. Not to mention the on-going meetings that were a bit ridiculous. I am so glad I only have to be there for another 5 days and then I get the whole 3 months off.

Hopefully next week will fly and I will be able to RELAX pool side with my little man ALL summer :)
