May 30, 2009

Jacob turned two months old on Monday, May 25th. He is now 22 inches long and 11 pounds 5 ounces, big boy!! I can't believe how much he has grown!

He was a sick baby for a couple of days, still working out all of the tummy issues we have. He is a horribly "gassy" baby and has to have mylicon with EVERY feeding. I think while he was at his sitters, there was a time or two that he did not get his mylicon and that left me with a sick little boy. I am glad he no long goes to a sitter. I missed my baby. My last day of work is Monday and his Gigi will have him all day.

Wednesday was a terrible day for us. Travis is still working in Arizona so I had to take Jacob to get his first round of shots ALONE. I will NEVER do that again! I also had to get a shot so we did mine first. I got the "whooping cough" shot to help further protect my baby from all those crazy diseases. Then it was time for him to have his shots done. He had to have one by mouth (liquid of course) and 3 by needle. One of the needle sticks was 3 shots in one. So he got a total of 6 shots. After the liquid shot, they laid my poor baby on the table and asked me to hold his hands back and love on him. Well thanks a lot nurse, that did NO good. As I sat there holding my baby's arms down and kissing his face she stuck him twice in one leg and once in the other. Of course, the first stick and he started screaming horribly which made me cry just as bad. We were a mess by the time they were done. After the nurse finished, she left the room and gave us our time. I sat in the chair rocking my baby and holding him tight while we both cried....To make matters worse I had to return to work and send him off with his sitter for the rest of the day.

Apparently he fell asleep in one position for the rest of the day and when I arrived at 3:30 to pick him up his poor legs were so stiff. He immediately started screaming once I picked him up because it hurt. Once again I was in tears and felt like a horrible mother for letting those mean people do that to my precious baby. He continued to scream for an hour before falling sound asleep on my chest. I know that shots are the best thing for him and that I am only doing him a favor by protecting him from all the horrible illnesses out there, but good Lord, I will never do it alone again!
