Yet, another doctor's appointment.

I know you are so sick of doctors. I am too.

We had your recheck for asthma and vitamin D levels today. The asthma recheck was painless and honestly the best recheck you have ever had. The vitamin D on the other hand, was not painless and still not giving us the results we are wanting.

Your asthma is very controlled at this point, which is a great thing. The only bad thing, the medication. You have been on medication for asthma for over 2 years, but recently you were but on a very high risk medication that we were hoping to get you off of at this check up. Even though you are progressing the way that you should and your breathing issues have stopped for the moment, we are leaving you on this medication. With the winter months quickly approaching you need to stay on the stronger medication to try and prevent any trips to the ER for respiratory distress this winter. We go back for another recheck in January and if you have made it through the winter smoothly, we will take you off the high risk medication and take you back down to the lower dosage. We will have to continue to do asthma management checkups every 3 months, until the end of time. Boo.

In June your vitamin D levels were severely low and we started supplementation to try to boost your levels up to where they needed to be. We had you rechecked 6 weeks after that and you were still below what you needed. We continued supplements for an additional 6 weeks and then had you rechecked today. We are still waiting on the results of those labs. Hopefully you are where you need to be so that we do not have to see an endocrinologist, another boo. The painful part was them having to draw more blood from your little veins. I can't stand when they have to do that. The other not so fun part of having low vitamin D levels is having low immunity. Low immunity = getting sick with every little bug/virus/infection under the sun!

You do finally weigh 30 pounds and that makes me very happy! It only took us 2 years to get you there!

Keep well little man, grow big and strong!
